GONGGONG// 共工
Background
Gonggong was discovered by Megan Schwamb, Michael Brown, and David Rabinowitz on July 17, 2007. It was Schwamb who was able to identify the dwarf planet through a method called the blinking technique. Through the images, Schwamb was able to identify that Gonggong was moving slowly. Upon its initial discovery, Brown had nicknamed the planet "Snow White." They would later find that they were misled by its color and did away with the name. A survey poll was held for the general public, and Gonggong was amongst other choices. It wasn't until May 29, 2019, that Gonggong became its official name. Its moon (Xiangliu), however, was appointed by its discoverers.
Gonggong was the assigned name on November 2nd, 2009. On the day of its presumed name, Gonggong was in 0°21'11"Rx in Pisces (Tropical) and 5°28'17"Rx in Aquarius (Sidereal).
Its position against the constellation would put it in the nakshatra of Dhanishtha.
On this same day, Gonggong was sextile the Moon and sextile Pluto
Bos
Gonggong would be conjunct with the star Bos in 5°34 Aquarius.
Bos constellation is said to have mannerisms that are more Mercurial. The star traditionally is indicative of military success and keen observation. As expected, those who fall into the category of military are usually bound to have some sort of irritability, ambition, and burn-out. Even so, whether one considers running on spite as counterintuitive or not, fails to see that those who have a general aggression toward them are only illustrating their empathy for others in a different way. But because it's not soft and squishy, it's easy to think one gets little in return for doing so much. On the contrary, Gonggong might be a planet that helps in utilizing one's emotions to facitlitate the change they would like to see in the world.
Mythology
Gonggong is to be one of the "Four Perils" in Chinese mythology. His appearance is described as having a head made out of copper, with an iron forehead, and depending on the story, may have the body of a snake or a human body. In every account, his destructiveness acts as a catalyst for various cosmic catastrophes. No matter the story, Gonggong ends up being killed or exiled. Of course, this doesn't happen with struggle.
The story of Gonggong comes from the poem "Heavenly Questions". Gonggong is blamed for knocking the Earth's axis off its center. Like most mythological stories, it's used to explain the happenings of real life. As this one goes, it explains why the stars, the Sun, and the Moon move towards the northwest. It is also used to illustrate why most of the rivers in China flow to the southeast. In other, more detailed stories, Gonggong was left feeling ashamed after losing a battle to Zhurong, the Chinese god of fire. In his fit of rage, he had rammed his head into Buzhou Mountain. This mountain was used as a pillar to hold up the heavens. Upon its destruction, it caused the earth to tilt and created great floods, bringing turmoil to the people.
Maybe it's a matter of how the spiritual world can have its own effects on the physical plane. Since it seems the changing of the world's axis and rivers were caused by the emotional turmoil and defeat of a God. Gods are not perfect. They react, and when they react, they change the course of the human experience for us. Are we not all Gods in our own way? Do we not all have access to our own psyche, our highest version of ourselves, and the spiritual world above?
Maybe even our most negative emotions can make something out of it that benefits different groups of people.
GONGGONG// Emotional Instigator

When trying to understand its meaning, it seemed that even though it could relate similarly to the star Bos, it still had some sort of connection to Neptune as well. The way in which it moves may be sporadic, but surely some creativity can come of it. Gonggoong may even have some sort of influence on us in ways we don't even realize.
For speculations sake, based off of what I think the purpose it serves, it operates somewhat like Neptune. Neptune itself is known for its dreamy state and for giving those with dominant placements the ability to tap into the higher consciousness. Gonggong might manifest in ways that act in a higher octave, that's a much less tangible version of the moon... if that makes sense. It might just be because it's so far that those effects like Makemake won't be fully realized until maybe we've reached a state of "higher consciousness" or even death.
I believe those with prominent placements are able to influence some sort of reaction, whether that may be through emotion, action, or a subtle influence on one's life. To understand the human psyche, one would have to understand the human experience. To be able to look past the surface and see people for who they are.
It's because of this that I felt it was more beneficial to look at the sky rather than find a direct correlation to events that occurred on the day of its naming.
Below you'll find public figures listed, and one form of media I had fun dissecting.
CARL JUNG// Philosopher of Dreams
Though not known as a philosopher, his works as a psychoanalyst are often used as a reference. Carl Jung's works are riddled with concepts relating to the occult. He himself might not have considered himself an occultist, but there's no doubt that his interest in the occult and the human mind were converged to be used as a map to uncover the soul.
Carl Jung's natal Gonggong was in Scorpio in the 10th House at 6°52'57". Although not conjunct, Jung's Midheaven was also in Scorpio in the 10th House. Natal Neptune is in Taurus at 3° 2'32". Natal Sun is in Leo at 3°18'37". Gonggong is square The Sun with an orb of 3°34. Gonggong is in opposition with Npetune in the 4th House with an orb of 3°50.

MARSHALL "HERFF" APPLEWHITE JR.// Heavens Gate Leader
Leader of Heaven's Gate. At its core, Applewhite had asserted to his followers that they could ascend to a higher form of being by rejecting the human body and its innate functions. By doing so, they could reach "Next Level" or "The Evolutionary Level Above Human".

ARKNIGHTS// Garden of Grotesqueries
Garden of Grotesqueries draws heavily from Chinese spiritual and literary traditions, but it reframes them through themes of memory, emotional permanence, and the fragility of existence rather than conventional horror. The Chinese Title 界园志异 (jie yuan zhi yi) is a wordplay of 聊斋志异 (Liaozhai Zhiyi) a famous collection of supernatural tales involving ghosts and spirits. The narrative itself is less interested in fear than in the emotional relationship between the living and the dead.
This connection becomes especially meaningful through the setting of the Garden itself. The town’s residents, many of whom are geists, exist in a liminal state: spiritual beings capable of thought, emotion, and presenting themselves as human. However the existence only seems to persist due to the fact that these spirits are formed from lingering emotions, memories, and identities that refuse to disappear completely. The Garden functions as both sanctuary and memorial, preserving for them.
Yi’s role as the keeper of the Garden reinforces this theme. As one of the twelve fragments of Sui, Yi acts almost as its curator. One oof remembrance, maintaining a space where forgotten people, emotions, and stories continue to exist. The Garden is therefore not simply a physical location. It is the space left for memories that refuse to erode. This directly parallels the story’s recurring tension between illusion and reality, life and death, and the cyclical nature of existence.
The release timing also strengthens these ideas. Garden of Grotesqueries released in mid-July, aligning with the beginning of Ghost Month in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar. Ghost Month is associated with the return of spirits and the thinning boundary between the living and the dead, making it an especially fitting backdrop for a story centered on lingering presences and unresolved emotional connections.
Even the visual design supports these themes. The Garden’s aesthetic and Yi’s color palette evoke the appearance of hell money — ceremonial paper offerings burned for ancestors and spirits. Traditionally, hell money symbolizes care for the dead and the continuation of bonds beyond physical life. By visually referencing these offerings, the story subtly ties remembrance itself to ritual: emotions, memories, and identities survive because people continue to acknowledge and carry them forward.
Ultimately, Garden of Grotesqueries uses supernatural imagery as a way to examine the persistence of human emotion. Ghosts, illusions, fading histories, and spiritual spaces all become metaphors for the traces people leave behind. The story asks whether something truly disappears if it is still remembered, and whether identity can survive through emotion even after form and history begin to fade.
